On 21 March, experts and technical personnel from seven Maintenance & Emergency Centers of PipeChina (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Changsha, Wuhan, Fujian, and Nanchang) witnessed a bench test for pressurized pipe hot tapping and plugging operations at Xinyu Feihu Pipeline Technical Equipment Co., Ltd. The test, conducted using the company’s independently developed equipment, achieved the highest plugging tightness standard of “zero leakage”. This marked the successful completion of the pipeline inspection operation target.
The test bench and the tested pipes were provided by PipeChina. They were straight seam steel pipes with a diameter of D406mm and a wall thickness of 6.3mm, and the plugging pressure was 4MPa. The hot tapping machine was installed and the hot tapping operation began at 9:30 am. After the hot tapping operation finished, the plugging machine was installed for plugging. The on-site hot tapping and plugging processes were successfully completed in one go in accordance with relevant standards, and all plugging tests were completed at 5:00 pm.
